Heart failure has a profound impact on individuals in modern society. Patients with this condition often endure a diminished quality of life and face limited life expectancy. However, we offer a beacon of hope through our advanced cardiac transplantation program.
Our institute has been at the forefront of pioneering advancements in the field of cardiac transplantation. Under the guidance of esteemed leaders, such as Hennadiy Knyshov and Vasyl Lazoryshynets, groundbreaking experiments on animals were conducted at our state-of-the-art vivarium. These pivotal studies, initiated in 1999, paved the way for transformative breakthroughs in heart transplantation in Ukraine.
In 2019, the adoption of new legislation regarding the application of transplantation of anatomical materials to humans brought newfound hope to patients suffering from severe heart failure. With this regulatory progress, our institute embarked on a mission to provide salvation to those in need. In 2021, we achieved a significant milestone as we successfully performed our first heart transplant within the walls of Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery.
Today, our institute has a formidable transplant team comprised of highly skilled professionals who have undergone extensive training and international internships at leading clinics. Collaborating closely with a team of qualified transplant coordinators, we maintain a comprehensive waiting list, ensuring that patients in need of a transplant receive the highest level of care and support. Our dedicated team provides meticulous pre- and postoperative assistance, both in our hospital and through remote channels, maintaining unwavering communication with our patients. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, including state-of-the-art equipment for mechanical heart and lung support, we strive to deliver the best possible outcomes.
In addition to our services within the institute, we extend our expertise beyond our walls. Through strategic partnerships with healthcare institutions in Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Ternopil, and Vinnytsia, our specialists perform organ transplantation, expanding access to life-saving procedures to a broader population.
At Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of medical innovation, ensuring that individuals suffering from heart failure have access to the most advanced care and treatment options available.
